boiling water in reservoir ???

hi folks.....only got my mk1 leon cupra 2 weeks ago and noticed water boiling in reservoir !!!,now i know the worst case scenario ...but its not over heating and blows hot air int car, previous owner had an empty bottle of rad weld in boot and i mentioned this but thot ok maybe just needs new radiator etc....its not losing water so cld it just b thermostat or radiator cap faulty ??,its a 52 reg with 140k ,plz help guys ....

Just wondering because obv the weathers been much hotter recently. And if your sitting in traffic and the fans aren't spinning to cool the engine down.

No I'm in Scotland pal... And only drive about 2 mile to work each night.!!, got car a few weeks ago and found bottle of rad weld in back seat.!!, but thot hey ho if it needs a radiator so be it etc... But temp stays at 90 n blows hot air etc... Doesn't lose water !!, but boiling in reservoir... what u think is wrong.??

Sounds like it's not holding it's pressure (hence the coolant boils at a lower temperature). So first thing I'd do is get it pressure tested, which in itself would expose any weak points.

Stupid question... what colours the coolant? Eg has the previous owner used one of the red/pink/purple coolants and not blue. And also is it the right mix (does it look watery).

OK so what wld b wrong if it its not holding pressure???,think coolant is kind of pink tbh.!!, ye looks watery too tbh.!!, cld it b a simple fix pal or.???, thnx
