Brake fluid change intervals?

As far as I understand, the latest advice for all VAG 4-pots is the first brake fluid change is at 3 years, and then at 2 year intervals.

Can anyone confirm?

I also don't really understand why it would be 3 years initially, and then at 2 year intervals, doesn't seem to make sense - does anyone know why?

You're right, three years then two years.

It maybe be that after a few years the brake lines are more permeable so the fluid goes off quicker. Just a guess.

Probably just to keep fleet maintenance costs to a minimum, same as the long life regime only needs one service in the first three years.

The requirement for routine brake fluid change only really appeared after a spate of ABS pump failures cost VW a fortune in warranty claims.
