Hi All!

I have decided to take the plunge and started to make inquiry's about new discs and pads.

Firstly, what size are the discs on my TDi Sport?
Secondly, most places seem to be recommending Tarox discs and Tarox pads.
Has anyone had any experience with these? Are they any good?

Cheers

Chris

No, from 288mm all you need is carriers, new discs and pads (which he's planning on buying anyway). Everything else is the same. Although not sure about internal wheel rim clearance on 16" wheels

I am running 17s so i am ok there then!!

So what is the boot total to upgrade them to the 312's?
Price? Parts etc etc

Cheers

Hi all,

Anyone know who's currently offering the best value for a 312mm conversion kit of carriers, discs and pads.
I'm not fussed about getting the overpriced red anniversery ones!!!
Tried a search, but couldn't find a up to date answer.

Thanks

Marty

I priced carriers through seremotors on here and was something like £75/carrier with a discount inc! Maybe £135 without i think. I have an 05 ref 1.9 tdi and the fronts i believe are 288mm discs, carriers are bolted on and measured at approx 286mm (wasnt accurate as by eye using a tape.

I got my carriers - original VAG from vagparts.com £165 inc vat and delivery next day. TPS wanted £102 PER carrier plus vat and not in stock.

Yep, all fitted and done in 45 minutes, both sides.
One query is the brake pads had a wear indicator lead on one set but I couldn't find anything on either strut to attch it to?!

And is it me or are Altea wheels a bugger to get onto hub and keep in place for first bolt!!!!?

I got pads (Texar) and discs (Brembo) from German & sweedish - they do a discount if you buy set. About £140 I think.

Go to Audi > A3 2003> Brakes. Don't go on the Seat section. - for some reason the parts are more expensive!!! ?

CrispDust, and what was the verdict once the brakes were fitted, did you notice much difference in braking?

btw the Seat Callipers on VAG are showing £97.84 alot less than say the 312mm callipers for the A3. maybe i am looking at the wrong place. btw links on vagparts shop are "sessioned", so they wont work next time round.

Was there much difference then? Do the original pads still fit ok or do they need changed (obviously changed with brakes) but does the type of pad/desgin need changed?
