Definitely going now. Forecast now -4 overnight. Could be a combined night race/ice race ! And that's just the M25 :p

I think I'll leave the little girl at home, she'll only be bleating all the time that she's cold, although she'll still want an ice-cream, and she won't quite understand the point of racing in the dark :D

Nice shots as usual, Glenn, and apologies for probably looking at you initially on Saturday with a "Who the f"ch are you?" look on my face - not expecting to see anyone there I knew!

Pipsqueak - did you go, and if you did perhaps you can answer this - Along the pit straight there was reasonable lighting so we and you could see what was happening, but if you went up towards Druids, how can the marshalls tell what is happening or see if there is a problem? You couldn't see car numbers or anything. The only 'dark' piece of kit seemed to be yellow flashing lights instead of yellow flags. Just curious because in mist or fog they won't allow racing if adjacent marshalling posts can't see each other, but I'm sure you couldn't see each other either.

Radios is the simple answer. We knew what was going on at all times via the radio.

Visibility wasn't that bad really. We could each see the next post (we all wore reflective coats or tabards) and the car numbers were all reflective so we could shine a torch on them if need be. Headlights then no headlights was the easiest indication of a problem! No different to marshalling Le Mans or the Ring at night (in fact the posts were probably closer together).
As well as the yellow lights we had reflective red, yellow and green boards that the cars' headlights lit.

Was that your yellow Leon Cupra parked up by the Kentagon? Saw a SeatCupra.Net sticker in the rear quarter light., thought it might be you.

Glenn - did you miss the Noble crash in qualifying? Would have made for spectacular photos. The throttle jammed wide open and he slammed full tilt into the barriers ripping the rear end off the car. Driver walked away very shaken. Curse of the pork pie magnet strikes again - I had pork pies in my lunchbox! Ferrari 360 coming out of the pit lane got magnetised too and spun right at me.

I’d just come back from breakfast at Hailwood’s and was getting the cameras out of the car which was parked at the back of the Desiré Wilson stand when the Noble went in. I saw the dust and heard the crunch…
