Broken iPOD Dock

Anone had problems with the stock factory ipod dock the one that lives under the drtivers seat. My 57plate TDI 140 Sport has had one unit replaced under warranty and now that's failed (after 3 months) to make matters worse the dealer refuses to look at it again claiming i have abused it! because i didnt have the correct adaptor inserted. I am tempted to upgrade the head unit but feel miffed at the attitude of the dealer - any suggestions welcome.

How has it failed? I take it the dock connection has stopped talking to the ipod.

Hmmm, mine was just replaced under warranty too. Nearly 1 year old. They lost the plastic adapter too so I need to go back [:@]

The head unit cant see the dock or more correctly the ipod. I know there is power reaching the dock and have re booted both the head unit and teh ipod but they still wont talk - my ipod has been checked in the missus VW and works there, so it all points to a failed dock or head unit, but its the dealers refusal to even look at it that's annoying saying it's my fault.

i had mine replaced, they tried to blame my ipod.

Luckily i am a electronics engineer so i told them where to go.

They completly messed up the new installation, the whole unit fell out, so made them do it again.

They have to replace it again while there is still warrenty, its so easy to blame, you but i wouldnt stand for it.

Its not a very good design, their is too much play in the plastic trays, so when you insert it, the ipod connector can be miss alligned and damage the connectors.
