bit of an update.... I picked the car up last night instead on Saturday! yay.. haha

No pictures to post yet as it was dark(ish) by the time I got home. I started the journey home in Eco, then just shoved it on sport :drive1:

Eco mode is horrible. The throttle response and pick up are about a week. With my driving style, eco mode actually uses more fuel than normal mode which is where I do the majority of my driving in.

I am in a similar position. 10 plate FR 170 with 120k on the clock. Would like something newer. Just don't know whether to go 300bhp route or stick to 150-200bhp. What is the DSG like on the 1.4TSI? Are the changes quick?

Go 300bhp. I can vouch for the rapid gear change and blistering acceleration. You will not be disappointed...skint maybe from the petrol cost or speeding fines or insurance...but always smiling.

I'm sold I've read in another thread orders for an MY19 cupra open later in the year although my next service is due by September so I'll see what used 290/300s (if any) are in stock

Good to know it puts a smile on your face. I'll worry about cash later

Hey all

I've got the same dilemma.

I'm in Ireland and so far have only tested the Mk3 2.0l 150ps diesel. I can't find a 1.4l 150 petrol anywhere here, so I've booked a flight for next week to the UK and buying one there.

I plan on testing the 184ps diesel, the 1.4 150ps petrol and also the 1.8tsi petrol... I don't generally do many miles, around 14k kilometres a year.

I really can't decide, but hoping after testing them I'll find a winner.

From everything I've read, it seems the 1.4 150ps is a great choice, but the multilink suspension and bigger brakes on the 1.8tsi and 184 diesel sound great too, hmmmm.

I think the Cupra is out of the running, insurance would be ridiculous in Ireland. Plus I'm already pushing it on price, will be looking around £12k max.

Anymore thoughts welcome

Decisions decisions

Wife says she has never seen me smile so much . And when you hear your first DSG change up exhaust fart you’ll be just like me.

Where in the UK are you?
Haha quality

Yeah i enjoy hearing those on YouTube but to be sat in the car would be wicked

I'm in West Yorkshire. You?

How long have you had the cupra?
