This is my first post here so hi fellow Seat enthusiasts. I have been on Briskoda for years with my trusty 04 plate Mk1 Fabia VRS. Finally decided to to sell the old girl and bought this standard Track grey 11 plate Ibiza Cupra 6j with 33k on the clock. A gamble I know but being persuaded to go back to petrol from diesel I was running out of time and there really was not a lot else around that interested me. I was really loving driving the car but it had a little wobble at idle that bothered me. Had my local Vag specialist change the plugs. Plugs that came out looked good on all cylinders. Then yes you guessed it on the first cold morning after the plug change misfire!. I did not want to post here until the car had been looked at. Misfire on cylinder 2 diagnosed, garage could not tell me anymore until a week and a half later, fully booked apparently. Que lots of stress and worry about CAVE engine Piston problems ect. I did not drive it for that time. That week could not have gone slower but after a quick visual from myself I could see what looked like a bodged wire repair to the cylinder 2 coil pack harness. This was confirmed by the garage and repaired today using original VW wire kits. ROAD TESTED OK :). I have just driven it home and it seems a lot happier not misfiring on idle anymore and very keen to rev. So relived. It still has the cold morning test to pass but I think it will be fine now. Radio reception is also much better as the bodged wire job was interfering with the signal. It has the battery in the boot and the DSG service update sticker other than that I know little of it's history apart from it's been serviced on time and has not been stolen written off ect. Hope we can enjoy the beast now. Will get some better pics up when I can and it's earnt my trust again. Not got any plans to tune it just maintain. Is still under warranty from dealer so I may try and claim the repair cost back. Cheers all.

Hi, and welcome. What an unfortunate start to ownership. But glad you got it sorted now. Did you have the garage give it a once over while they were repairing the wiring? How come you decided to move to petrol? I did the same, went from a Diesel FR+ to the Petrol Cupra I drive now. Miss the 600 miles to a tank. LOL.

Thank's Legojon. Yes car has been all checked over now. Coolant was a little weak, strengthened that up with G13 although it could use a flush soon. Oil topped up with Motul 5w-40. I also fixed all these things in one month : Driver sun visor clip was broken and the drivers fog light bracket was broken, fog light was rolling around in the bumper. Two of the tyres had nails in them, now replaced for Goodyear Eagle F1's :) . The reverse light did not work, thankfully 99p bulb fixed it, and a vent in the boot had fallen off and was sitting on the top of the exhaust. Seems like a few problems built up so the owner decided to sell on. It is in good hands now all sorted :). 20 years in Engineering me so kinda ocd with cars lol. I have also given it the full Autoglym treatment. Alloys could do with a little refurb. I loved the mpg of the Fabia too 55mpg remapped to 170bhp but it was so agricultural especially with a solid mass flywheel conversion. So much smoother power delivery the Cupra and much wider power band plus the sound of the Ibiza is addictive, no induction kit needed. I will miss the torque of a remapped PD130 300 lbs but the power was over all too soon on that engine. Will feed the Cupra premium fuel. Just have to try and ignore sport mode (not gonna happen) as that eats juice and my wallet has taken a bit of a battering of late .

Haha, I get the ocd. I cracked my drivers vanity mirror replacing the bulb. The look I got when I ordered a new one just because of a tiny crack "why?". But I just couldn't live with it LOL. What I can't get my head round is why people buy a nice car and then just ignore things that go wrong with it. You'll have to post up some shiny washed pics.

Ah, yeah, I forgot the power band on a diesel was so narrow. When I first switched to petrol I was changing gear at 4k revs. LOL. Took me ages to get out of that habit.

Just been out for a bit of a blast and all seems good but on my return I have just noticed one of my fog light surround grills has vanished. Oh well at least is only 24 quid from Seat. Gonna order that now.

Yup was definitely on before we went out lol. I also noticed a slight rattle under the bonnet earlier and low and behold upon inspection the garage who did the repair have broken one of the grommets on the bottom of the engine cover leaving it sitting on the engine. I swear every time I take a car to a garage, does not matter which one they break something. Only a few quid but irritating. Ordered the fog surround today was 29 quid with vat. Cold start was a lot better today although temp outside was not exactly cold so we will see as winter approaches. Still a little lumpy but as soon as the warm up cycle has ended or put in gear smooth as. Will treat it to new coil packs all round soon as they look like the original ones. Thanks for the invite JimBob, much appreciated and It would be great to meet you guys. Unfortunately I am a little far away down here on the South coast but maybe in the future when the car has earned its stripes. Would be a good test for it. :). Loving the way the car goes and handles the differential is really nice and the engine is much lighter than that the old 1.9 PD which felt like you had to drag around corner's. Out of interest what brand of fuel do you guys use?. Only BP ulimate or momentum 99 around here.

Maybe you need to take the fog light surround off the other side and compare the fitting area on both sides as you said earlier that probably this side that lost its newly fitted surround had had its fog light pushed back - ie in case the bumper cover has been damaged and your next surround will also come off?

Fitted it today mate. Not easy, you kinda have to flex it to get all the tags in. 7 tags in all. 6 clipped in firmly and one tag is not in as nice as I would like. But it is in there better than the old one so hope it stays put :). Clean car snaps to follow.....

7th tag clipped home +yay. Ran out of light after Carnauba waxing. Nice moody dusk shot though. I will get some snaps in morning if its not covered again already by pollen overnight. Track grey looks black in this shot. Very happy to have the car 100% now.

That is really nice! Your original picture doesn't do it justice.

Looking good, these are fun little cars. I previously had a 2015 Octavia vRS tdi and that was a really good chassis but wished I'd got the petrol version, much happier now with a 2016 Ibiza Cupra.

Thanks James, yes is really fun to drive am enjoying it now. 2016 plate nice motor and not got the worries us earlier Cupra engine owners have. Couple of things left to do on mine. A few small parking dink's and the passenger mirror has taken a knock at some time in its life and looks like the wing will need some dent magician magic to get it sitting completely flush again. I tried slackening the torx bolt but it seems it needs some felting to get it sitting 100% flush again. Still works though. There are a few Seagull scratches on the roof that bug me, clear coat only, need to try and polish out. This colour shows scratches :(. I have just silicone sprayed the rear bushes as I was getting a slight creek cornering from the rear suspension. Seems common on all the vag cars I have owned and a good lube now and then sorts it out. Other than that all good at moment fingers crossed :). I want to buy some genuine Seat Cupra door sills soon as my old Fabia VRS had them as standard. Bloody 70 quid though. The door sills and mpg are pretty much the only things I miss about my old car.

:censored: things. Over summer I had a pigeon the size of thunderbird 2 land on my car with a massive thud! It left about a 6" scratch across the roof I haven't managed to fully polish out yet. Some days I wish I had a :rifle:.

Lol. Wax does an okay job of hiding it but I might try an Autoglym scratch removal kit before winter is here. Nights are looming in fast.

Depending on the scratch it may be easier to get it machine polished. Polishing by hand is very hard for for deeper scratches and tends to only fill the damage not remove it.

Depends how much patience you have. I used compounds and polished both ways and by far the easiest is using a machine.

To get the roof polished professionally wouldn’t cost a huge amount either.
