Grrr... what a day. But I might come back to that. So... got my car back. And got the Wavetrac fitted and gearbox reconditioned (new seals, bearing, input shaft bearing, clutch master cylinder). Not sure if it's a placebo, but gear selection feels much smoother. Especially struggling trying to get it into first.

So anyways, the Wavetrac is probably the most expensive mod I've put of the car to date. I was hoping to feel maybe a little difference, a little faster round corners. A little more traction in a straight line. But not get swept up in the "I feel something cause it was expensive". Like when you go up 10bhp and can definately feel it.

All I can say is WOW! I wish I'd have led with this. I've tried everything to increase grip. I was beginning to think despite the reviews, the Rainsport 3s were rubbish. If it's rained during the week, wheelspin. If I put my foot to the floor, wheelspin. If there's a caterpillar crossing the road, wheelspin. The traction control light was on more than it was off, straight line, cornering. And the annoying part of it is, lets face it, all traction control does is stick the brakes on. So you get a jerking motion as the car gets traction then slams the brakes on repeatedly.

So I got to the first dual carriageway, the rain was bouncing heavy off the floor. I floored it, no TC light at all. Gripped all the way up to national speed limit. Including... and I was too late to avoid it, a drain cover dipped into the road I couldn't swerve to avoid. I kept on the power, the drivers wheel bounced down it and back onto the road and the car carried on pushing like it wasn't there. It's made the power delivery a lot smoother as the car isn't constantly braking for me. I've tried it on quite a few roads now and I feel like I can get the full 370 horse power down even in soaking conditions. Scared myself round a couple of corners and can just about if I push it really really hard get the TC light to flicker once for a fraction of a second.

So far I've noticed no downsides, a little noise when rolling slowly in first gear. But once the radio is on, that won't be noticeable at all. Not sure what to do now. Was going to ditch the Rainsports for PS4s... but don't see any need now.

Good new, s glad its worked out well, nothing worse than spending a lot of money and not knowing WHY.

Enjoy but just make sure you remember it still looses grip sometimes.

Cheers. Yeah, I'm going to get used to it slowly. It's just made driving the car a whole lot more fun. Oh and got the torque steer in check as well. They should really come with mechanical diffs from the factory.

The bank must love you!

I had a minor wobble. But I'm back on my new years resolution now of not buying any car parts. I booked my wheels for a respray yesterday so that doesn't count.

So the gas bonnet struts, lsd, wheel refurb etc just didn't happen or they turned out to be must haves which stop you from using the car so are allowed lol

Yes... That! Technically I've already bought the bonnet struts, so that's history. Wish I had them today as I nearly lost the bonnet in the wind!

Got up 20 mins early to do this before work today. Hurray light mornings. Boo wind and rain. I like these much better as they hold the bonnet from the wind pushing it up as well. Although wouldn't want to chance the hurricanes we've had lately.

Followed @Jimbobcook s photos. You'll need a 12mm spanner and 13mm socket.

It's definitely better than the stupid metal hook that doesn't hook lol worth 20 minutes getting up early to sort that!

It was a bit scary undoing the bonnet hinge bolts in a gale force wind. But just did it Indiana Jones style. Oh and what a pain removing the "stick". I nearly broke the windscreen unhooking it when it finally popped out.

Haha I thankfully sorted mine on a non windy day so no issues with mine but yes the black stick thing nearly went through the windscreen on mine as well lol

Does it make you feel a little better inside now you've done something and it works fine lol I felt good even though I rarely lift the bonnet haha you getting one of them material hooks so you can show people your engine but keep the bonnet at half way? Go full modding style

It's a really sleek mod. One of those things you wish you'd done ages ago. I love how when you go past a point it just opens itself. I have an ever growing list of stuff I want to do to the car. So it's nice to get something off my mind. It was irritating me everything just sitting there and no good weather in sight to do it.

But ye, cars are either rewarding or frustrating. I did it against my better judgement knowing I needed it for work shortly afterwards. But turned out ok, ignored the instructions. Just used the pictures from your thread and assembled the brackets the night before.

Awesome thread @Legojon and the car looks amazing! I was looking for a Cupra R in this exact colour, but after looking for a few months I didn't find one that was good for the money (they all needed so much work doing) so I picked up a gloss black one.

A few pages back you mentioned the anti lift kit, was it a night and day difference or am I better off saving for the Wavetrac LSD? Do you run PS4s daily or different tyres?

Also, where did you get your mats? They look awesome! http://i.imgur.com/cSjQT0C.jpg
Also also... did you wrap the flat bottom of the wheel? The grey plastic look is poo...

Cheers. You need to put up a Readers Ride with some pics. Gloss black looks awesome. Difficult to keep it clean though. I washed my Black FR+ twice a week through summer just to keep the dust off LOL.

The anti lift kit is really good. Thing is, I think the kit fitted cost me around £150. Whereas the Wavetrac fitted was £2k! Depends on what power you are running. I didn't really need the Wavetrac until I went Stage 2+. At which point I couldn't put any of the extra power down. So if your leaving it 300bhp or less, I'd just get the anti lift.

I'm running Rainsport 3s at the moment. But need 2x new fronts. I was going to go PS4s (and might still do). But the Wavetracs made such a difference I don't feel I need extra grip anymore.

The mats were just off ebay. Think I searched for cupra r mats and then you choose your trim colour and thickness.

The previous owner actually swapped the steering wheel out for the gloss black version. Think it was the European version!? But I agree, had the grey plastic in my FR+ and hated it.

What a nightmare the last few weeks have been. So it started with this:
hx4vQC4.jpg

So apparently AFS is that thingy that makes the lights move left and right as you corner. Meh, who misses that eh. But, it makes the bulb light flash constantly on the dash :censored:. And also puts the headlights into like a safe mode (pointing inwards). No problems eh!? Well, turns out, you can't just "buy" a new headlight. You have to buy the enclosure and motors separately. So it took 3 wasted visits to 3 different garages to find one that could supply a new enclosure and transfer the working motors across.

Fourth garage, finally stumbled upon Autotechnik in Rowley. New headlight enclosure + new AFS power pack!!

And of course, I've LED'd it back up!!

Edited - sent the sidelights back cause they were flicking and throwing errors every few seconds. Back to the drawing board. DRLs still working good tho.
