Hi all,
After some advice please, my 2002 '52' Leon Cupra had its 40,000 mile service yesterday and I asked for them to check the condition of the cambelt out of curiosity.
Needless to say they 'recommended' that it be changed fairly swiftly. Now the car has only covered 37k but of course is 5 years old and I know the belts can perish over time. I always used 60k as a benchmark for changing but have heard in recent years that 40k is becoming more common.
I was quoted about £290 all in to have it done only I just feel the mileage is still a little low. The handbook doesn't say '40,000 miles or every 4 years' so I just wonder if they are trying it on a little.
Anyone had a similar experience, or at least think the price is a little steep? I spoke with my brother who had his 2000 VW Passat TDI one changed and cost about £380, so makes me think the price isn't too bad.
Any advices appreciated !
