Hi
Finally got my car back and the nice £1800 bill. Its going back in friday for an oil change but I have developed both problems which I'm sure they 'll sort but wondered your opinions as they may be connected.

When she's been sitting over night or for a long time she takes 2 attempts to start then when she does fire she sounds like she runs on 3 for a few seconds then a plume of smoke and she settles in.

Second problem is now anytime you stop or pull up somewhere the fumes are strong. It stinks, not really noticeable when driving but it is when you stop. The fuel economy is down too, struggling to keep 40mpg and I do 32 miles each way to work so not bad runs.

Went back to the garage Friday. He says it started first time and can't find a problem. I get in it this morning and low and behold it's hard to start again. Grrrrrr back itll go again.

Any ideas what it could be? He supposedly check the glow plugs and they were fine.

Back again it went Thursday. I called to collect it yesterday and now it apparently starts easy everytime but the key has lost its code so that was probably the problem all along but they don't know as they can't get in to the car because of this.
I think there full of ####

That sounds like a load of rubbish. Why can't they just put the key in the door lock and turn it?

As for the other problems, sounds like it could possibly be a leaking injector. That would account for the difficult starting, high fuel consumption, fumes and the smoke after starting.

Thanks, sounds like poop to me too. I'll go along the lines of an injector. Do you think a new injector seal or possibly a new injector? How do you know which one lol

Ok so got the car back tonight after another 140 spent. The fault this time was the glow plug module and some immobilizer relay apparently... so let's see in the morning

5am this morning 2 attempts to start so that's not been fixed and now the glow plug light is blinking away at me. It goes out if once warm I turn the engine off and back on. That was a waste of 140 pound and back itll go again....

Yea they're playing parts cannon with the thing, they've not got a ******* clue whats wrong with it and are just replacing whatever fault comes up on the code reader.

I very much doubt there was anything wrong with the glow plug relay or immobiliser electrics.
Have they even properly coded in the new modules??

I very much doubt they've coded it. Could that be causing the glow plug lamp on the dash to flash?

Take it to a reputable company see what they find and advise I would ask for a partial refund from the garage its been in.

Ok so will take your advice and go else where but only after he's sorted the blinking glow plug light he's caused.

I asked him to check the valve oil seals as its blowing blue smoke on cold start up and is fumey all the time. He says itll be piston rings now the heads so strong. I said no way because it'd blow blue smoke all the time if it was rings. Silly as i had none of these issues before the job was done.... aghhhh
