Car key locations and burglaries

Just wondering what people’s thoughts are on this one, there’s been a spate of car thefts in a town local to me and people are saying you should sleep with your car keys, however I feel the opposite the car is insured for a reason. I’m not willing to put myself In undue danger for the sake of a metal box (regardless of how emotionally attached I am to him... it, I mean it!)

Often these burglars will do anything to get what they want so why risk your life? Is it just me? We leave our keys out of sight but downstairs it wouldn’t take much to find them...

I love my car but family is more important.

Only thing I’d add is if my Cupra disappears I don’t want to see it again. It wouldn’t be the same.

Agreed... I would want to keep them as far away from my wife and the little one as possible. If they left quietly I probably wouldn’t make too much fuss.

I also wouldn’t want a car back... I’d be gutted but it’d be tainted.

+1 leave the keys buy the front door and let the so and so's have them.

Wife, Kids, Dogs etc are worth more than the car.

Im sort of lucky as they would have to nick the wife's car first to get mine lol she always leaves before me so they get swapped round.

If someone wants the car they will get it however so I'd just leave the keys out (not in plain sight) if they want it they take it. But you're right in saying I wouldn't want it back.

It just wouldn't be clean...

What?!? Touching my car is like touching my child, no excuse, no exception. Touch my house where my children sleep?? Words can't describe what I'd do. Let's not have a country scared of 16 years olds with crack habits.

I have my Iaido sword hanging on the wall above the bed. Come to think of it, I'm not great at DIY... so might not be the best of ideas.

My dog knows every sound my car makes, so even if someone is by it, he watches it out the window & if the door handle was pulled without us being there he would go berserk. If they dared to come into our house the dog would be ready.

@BadBoy03 I think the answer to the original question is to attach the car keys to your dogs collar, lets see them get them then.

Im lucky I live in a nice area, have space to park my car in the garden behind a 6 ft gate, but grew up in a not so nice area we have trained our dog so as soon as he hears the gate open he goes nuts, barks worse than his bite though sadly!.

Also I have a nest camera setup in the garden, so worse case scenario they will be on camera - not that that seems to matter much these days.

I live in the middle of nowhere so im hoping its a non-issue but it was an interesting question. Dont get me wrong id protect my daughter and wife with my life, but lose it for a metal box? Not so sure that makes sense to me.

I love my cars and would be gutted if anything happened to them, but they are ultimately replaceable.

Like your thinking...my dogs favourite game is tug, & he always wins! :)
Alternatively we have the local peado..I mean neighborhood watch opposite who films every one so he can keep a lookout.

Hot topic.
I will protect my car with mega violence if I see a thief at work.
Loathe thieves.
I have chuckas close at hand, a kendo stick nr front door and a very sharp sword.
Although one cut with the sword would probably see the naughty **** lose a hand or worse which may lead to bleeding out.
So probably have to leave that one sheathed by the bed.
