Central Locking and Wing Mirror Fault

Hi,
I have searched the forums and haven't found a solution for my combination of faults so have made a new post. apologies if this has been answered before.

I have a 05 altea TDI sport and it has developed a fault with the central locking. The key fob died a long time ago so i have been unlocking and locking with the key and using the buttons in the centre to unlock all other doors. however recently the button has begun to fail which means i have to open every door from the inside which isn't a massive problem but i cannot unlock the boot.

Also

The controls for the wing mirrors has failed, because these were on the same section on the centre I replaced the entire switch panel but this hasn't fixed it.

Has anyone had this problem before if so how did you fix it? Am i missing something extremely obvious. I tried replacing a couple of fuses but to no avail. The manual mentions a relay referred to as 'AIR' I'd try that but i can't find it for the life of me.

Thanks in advance

I would strongly recommend running a scan first. And then come back here with the codes or lookup the errors in google that people reported with an altea, leon or a golf mk5. Same thing. This approach helped me several times;)

Just a guess: Did you check the battery power?
As mine my06 had an intermittent issue about 2 years ago with the sunroof - opening only half way, unable to shut it completely, as it kept reopening when sliding in close position ... always had to give it 4-7 tries until it remained in shut position.
Next the central locking started rejecting the key fobs' signal every once in a while ... which made me finally investigate for the root cause.

Teling you this, because the simple explanation for this "misbehaviour" was an exhausted battery ... renewed after 12 years of error-free use and the unpredictable behaviour of electronic components was gone.

If you find the battery healthy, I would definitely go with the recommendation of the previous posters and have the OBD scanned.

EDIT: ... plus there is a chance that the door CU has a defect (broken cable, plug detached etc.), cause both functions (locking & mirrors) are controlled via that CU.

I had a scan run recently but I was only focused on the airbag light, I have a list of the codes that came back so I will have a look through that thanks

I can’t say if the battery is healthy or not,I have a similar sized one so I’ll switch them over and try again.

Where would I look to find the CU in the door(drivers I’m assuming) would it just be where the switches are?
Thanks for the help

On the scan list you should find 4 CUs (one for each door) mentioned with part numbers like 1T0 959 701/2 (front) and 1K0 959 703/4 (rear) ... any errors (besides airbag) listed there or with the onboard supply control unit (3C0 937 049)?

The door CUs are attached to the window regulator motor (just do a picture search on "vw 1T0959701").
