Cental locking with the key fob is working intermittently. I think it could be water damaged from the leak ive had? Had a quick look on auto data and its lovated under/behind the steering wheel. Whats the best method to locate/remove it lads??

I think you'll be able to reach it just by taking off the plastic cover that is under the steering wheel (also requires taking off the fuse box at the end of the dashboard). It's just a couple of screws.
If I remember correctly, the module itself is located somewhere near the steering wheel/axle. Follow the wires coming from the door harness.

Is it a new fault that has come since getting that new key ?
As I had the same if you pressed to unlock the car from to faraway and it did not unlock when you pressed the button again it would not work so had to use the key but after the drive home It would work and if your stud next to car it would work but if the button was pressed it would not work I fixed it by getting the fob part from a old vw key we had at work and the issue has gone
