central locking issues and boot lock

ive been trying to get my central locking working all day, i bought the car on friday and the key wudnt turn at all in the passenger door or boot. had trim off today, sprayed both locks with dubdee, and the passenger lock now turns and locks the door.

the boot however, is still not turning at all and wont unlock. central locking doesnt work at all unless u take the fuse for it out of the fusebox and plug it back in. it makes all the locks open and close repeatedly for bout 20 seconds then shuts off. the vacuum pump in boot sounds very noisy.

i need to know wats going on with it cos i dont know if its just a leak on one of the pipes or the pump or the relay in fusebox. im assuming the boot lock uses a different key since it looks like the latch is brand new.

any suggestions? ive tried looking through other threads but thats just left me more confused

Not really, if the locks on your passengers and drivers doors are going up and down then i'd supsect the boot first.

i can move the boot rod manually but it sounds like its pushing air out. wud putting black tape round the pipe work once if found the leak?

are the doors supposed to unlock when u open them from inside? i keep getting locked in.

Mine doesn't, only when youve pulled the lock open with the knob.

that is a major design flaw then. on all my other cars i just installed a remote c/locking kit but seems a waste when it has one as standard. whats that yellow cap on the vacuum pump for?

why cudnt they just put electric motors in, wud make it alot easier to find the fault.

central locking

Hi mate, i had the same problem. Its probably a leak in one of the rubber boots on the central locking actuators. I only found this out when trying to fill up at the petrol station when i was almost out of fuel:censored:
You will have to remove the right hand side carpet and plastic cover by pulling the plastic clips that hold it in place and also remove your rear seat belt.
When you have removed these you will have access to the vaccum pump remove the 2 screws securing it and pull it out.
you will see actuator with a long metal rod on it this is for the fuel flap check the rubber boot to see if it has any holes, even tiny ones can cause a vack leak that was the problem with mine.
I used some silicone sealant to plug the hole, if this is fine check the boot actuator for holes.
If you don't find any holes there check front door actuators.
Also its worth checking if all the o rings are ok these are in the white clips that clip the pipes onto the pump etc.
I hope this helps its a :censored: when this happens when the weathers this bad.
Good luck Marc:)

im going to start with the boot pipe, if i can find where it goes. already had the passenger side door panel off and cudnt really see owt. ill eventually find the leak. i need to get new immobiliser and alarm fitted with remote central locking but i dont think the alarm will work without broken central locking.

not had any joy with the seals on the boot or fuel cap actuators. ive been testing them by covering the hole on the back of each vacuum chamber and seeing if they move or make noise, and they didnt. shall be trying doors tomorrow if i have time.

it seems to me that they are following the on/off pattern of the indicators when u unlock doors? is it possible the relays are in the wrong place? which one is for the central locking?
