Central locking when running

I can't test this as I don't have a spare key. If the cars running can you still lock it with the central locking outside of the car?

Remote fobs are ignored with the ignition on. Central locking still works via the key in the door lock though.

I was trying to unlock the boot the other day with the remote (whilst keys in, engine running). Yup, did I look like an idiot.
