Hi all,

Driving home this evening and wallop a bl**dy great stone has made a 10p size crack in my new windscreen, after a few minutes of some strong Anglo Saxon words I booked it into auto glass.

Anybody know if their standard repair is any good or should I push for a replacement screen.

If I go for a replacement bit worried what they do with all the sensors etc.. that is stuck to the glass.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers.

I've recently had this on my MK2.

They came to repair it but it cracked when repairing.

The sensors come off the windscreen and fit onto the new one

They may well want to replace it anyway once they see it as they make more profit
I wouldn't worry about sensors on the screen, they either come with new ones on the screen or they are eaay Rio swap over from your old screen

My worry would be the quality of the fitting of the new screen especially as being so new they have never fitted one before

So its a hard call, if it was my car I'd either push for it to be done at seat dealer or if a repair can be done and won't show very much then go down that route

If its a lease car or a car you won't be keeping very long then just push for a new screen at autoglass as any issues down the line won't be your problem and hope you have no issues with it in the short term
