Cleaning engine bay questions

has anyone cleaned their engine bay with the battery in and used water to wash the cleaner off? Skeptical in case I short something.

Put plastic bags over the electrics and you should be good to go

You can't short the battery with just water. I use a spray degreaser, and waterblast it off, VERY carefully avoiding direct blast onto electrics. I just rinse them with a gentle flow.
I've not had a problem with this over many years.
