    Hi,

Looking at selling my Ibiza cupra mk3 and have noticed the clutch is slipping when I boot it in 4th and 5th. Couple of questions below....

Going to look at changing the clutch asap before I stick it up for sale on autotrader
As i’m selling the car i’m just looking at putting a standard job in, its on 85k now and was fine on a standard clutch before (running about 230bhp)

    Questions....

Will the flywheel need replacing aswell or can I just purchase a clutch kit?

Cost wise looking at £350? That sound about right
Had a quote so far for £355 if they supplied the clutch and fitted
Or another where if I supplied the clutch the labour would be £190 (4 hour job at £40 + vat per hour)

From searching it sounds like the size might not be that easy to get right either, seen figures of 220, 225 and 228 mentioned with different people needing different sizes which could end up being a problem if I purchase the clutch myself, looked at eurocarparts and got a few prices below

Alternatively I could stick it up for sale and mention the clutch is slipping and get knocked down, that way letting the new buyer decide what clutch to put in it.... Although I imagine most buyers wont want the hassle and would want it with the new clutch

im pretty sure you have to change flywheel aswell if it still has the standard dual mass flywheel, you can replace it with another dual mass or get a single mass conversion which is cheaper and wont need replacing again.

Had mine replaced last late last year by a local garage, cost £275 all parts supplied

Didnt have to change the flywheel, they may advise you depending on condition of it

Thanks for the replies so far, any idea on sizes? I can probably get the clutch at a discounted rate through a friend at eurocarparts but only if I know which one I need

Otherwise I might just get a garage to order the kit aswell to save hassle

Think I may just pay the extra and have the garage order the clutch kit, at least if they get the wrong size they can then get the right one in

Otherwise the car will be in pieces and I may have the wrong size and then have to try and get it exchanged

£275 seems a really good price, I doubt I'd be able to get near that as £40 an hour labour seems pretty standard these days
