Clutch master cylinder

Hi,
The clutch pedal decided to go bang today. I've had the pedal welded up and the plastic clip is whole but..... The pushrod seems to be sitting quite far out and I tried offering the pedal up to it and it does look that it needs pushing in and here is where the issue arises. How are you supposed to push it in?
Am I missing something or does it mean the master cylinder needs replacing?

Managed to get it sorted, as to the question...................a bit embarrassing as I was being a divvy.I do have another question though, there seems to be a black plastic "clip" that goes on to the pedal, it broke when the pedal went. Does anyone know what it is called and maybe a part number and would it be a dealer only part?

well its there to press against the clutch pedal sensor... so clutch pedal sensor bracket plate? hehe
or just stick something on the pedal the same thickness. or indeed just glue it on.

Glueing it did seem like a cheap fix. I'll try the dealers and maybe glue it on if it needs ordering.
