Clutch release bearing making a noise

Hi, would like someone to confirm that if my Clutch release bearing is on its way out. When i push the clutch pedal down halfway you hear a rattle/knocking noise. When the pedal is fully up or down no noise. Aint got a clue how the dmf works and hope its got nothing to do with that.

I also have another problem with my gear lever, when taken out of gear in to neutral. It some times rattles, if pussed slightly to the left it stops. Do i need to adjust it, or replace something that is worn out?

If its like my old pug its the thrush bearing. It will be ok for a while but will need to be replaced soon.

Theres a thread in ibiza mk4 FAQ section about the gear knob rattle.

My clutch release bearing used to be noisy when cold and the clutch wasnt depressed. Soon as I pressed the clutch it stopped. I ran it like this for maybe 6 months to a year before getting it replaced as it started to get difficult to get into reverse when you were manouvering about when parking and doing a few changes in a short space of time

Ok I just posted on another topic about DMF as that sounded like my issue......... but this description of release bearing noise sounds more like what my car is doing (toledo tdi).

Anyone got any idea how much this costs to fix, and how likely it is just to *fail* and leave me stranded? My car also struggles to get into 3rd gear sometimes when cold.

A dealer would have most likely changed the thrust bearing during a clutch replacement as they would probably come as part of a kit. It'll prob be fine, as with anything the more your on the clutch the faster it'll wear :)specially crawling at lights! ^^
