I'm a little confused over this, I was looking at this as a first mod, some recommend a CAI Kit & some seem wary re fuel & DPF issues, plus loads to choose from:

1. Pipercross Viper
2. K & N Typhoon
3. BRC
4. Greens
5. Powertech etc

Can anyone offer advice.

Cheers

been told if it's a diesel, it's a waste of money to get any kind of induction kit as standard airbox is actually very good. Performance filter panel will suffice.

have also heard that a performance panel is good enough, certainly not as costly!!!!! any more thoughts?

thinking will start with a panel

The pipeworks is pretty simple and smooth flowing on the tdi as standard. I'd advise a performance filter. If you want one for sound reasons then the induction kits with a cone filter would be a good route to take. Out of the ones listed, I'd go for the Typhoon for noise reasons.

It would appear for your post we are talking about a diesel, if so and it is in normal tune just a green panel filter will do. If you are above 230/240 hp then thats another ball game and a very large cone intake and associated pipe work 3"id etc. I also run with no back box just s/s pipes with not noise increase but a slight improvement in engine pick up [turbo spool up is quicker]

OK first mod decision made, firstly I appreciate that this is now a very minor mod - going to be a Pipercross (cos they British!!!) Panel Filter - on order.

Thanks for the feedback guys - I know realise (looking thro' this & other sites) that there is so much that can be done, looking forward to dabbling deeper...

Remap next, Celtic Tuning...

oh ps - can anyone recommend a reputable Performance Car Parts stockist in & around Southampton, Bournemouth to Salisbury area?

.. agreed :D Can't emphasise how much a difference a big cone (as long as its fed correctly and shielded!) and a straight through exhaust makes. Power and delivery are so much more improved :D if your sub-200bhp, stick with pannel filter :) no point otherwise

Ive owned a Neuspeed, for 3 yrs now love the sound + quality, got the air cone sitting behind the wheel arch so no engine heat to worry about. Just another choice for you
