Confused about locking!

Picked up my TFSI FR yesterday - woohoo!

The dealer said I could deadlock the car by pressing the lock button twice on the remote. However the manual says that pressing the lock button twice will disable a (volumetric?) sensor...

Not sure what's correct...

When I press the lock button twice I hear another mechanical noise like when the doors lock. Presumably turning off the sensor won't create any mechanical noise??

Can anyone help?? I want my new pride and joy to be secure!

In my LeonFR 2.0 TDI
dont think the fr has a volumetric sensor, thats the internal eye that detects movement in the car aint it?

lock button -- click - lock, click again, deadlock,
lock button -- press and hold, all windows will close and the mirrors move to parked position
boot button -- when car is locked, press and hold to only open boot, and it dead locks again when closed,
unlock button -- press to open drivers door, press again quickly to open all doors + boot

the other mechanical noise you can here is the fuel cap locking and unlocking

Theres been some discussion over whether holding the lock button actually closes the windows. Ive never heard of puttin the mirrors up tho.
I can say that mine (stylance) closes the windows with the key in the lock (and can also set the alarm off) but nothing happens by holding the button.

Hi folks...

I was curious about this. I've had the car only 4 days or so but haven't read the manual yet :) I don't have the convenience pack option but tried it anyway. By holding the button on my fob it did indeed close the windows and turn the mirrors in. You can see what I have in my sig.

Just tried it on mine.

Tried unlocking and holding locking - result the car is locked and the red door light stays on for about 10 seconds then starts flashing
Tried unlocking and locking then locking again - definitely a secondary mechanical sound but is it the sound of the deadlocks going on or off?

My wing mirrors didn't go to the park position and the windows were already closed. Perhaps only works straight after switching the engine off?

Here's some cool info to add to the above...

If you use the button to bring the mirrors in, the mirror knob will be in the normal position, so when you "STARRRRT YOUR ENGINES" the mirrors come out without you having to think about it.

Also...just found this today, if you press the UNLOCK button for a few seconds, the doors unlock and ALL the windows open...great for those hot days when you need the hot air to leave the car before you get in.

Could be a combination of the two...my FR is only 4 days old as far as I am concerned, not sure if its classed as a 2007 model though.

I was well surprised when I saw it!

Right...I've done some experimenting...

whilst been sat in the car...

one click lock -> doors don't open, jigging around inside causes alarm to sound!
double click lock -> doors do open from inside (curious), but not from outside and no amount of jigging causes the alarm to go off. The alarm light also stops flashing after a bit

guess this means that double click disables the deadlocks and the movement sensor??

I don't have the convinience pack...

holding the lock button -> all windows close and wing mirrors fold up
holding the unlock button -> all windows open

I feel slightly lost as I've never had so many options for locking and unlocking my car before!

My car is a Zenith Grey TFSI FR with the standard17s (one of the few people here that actually seem to like them!). The only options I got is the armrest and ipod connection, which currently doesn't work, it's not letting me select a cd changer so looks like they forgot to wire the earth cable as some people here have found. VERY annoying since I told the dealer about this before they installed it and the guy there just seemed to dismiss me....[:@]

Must be an FR or 2007 model thing, there's some threads about this elsewhere on this forum from a couple of months ago. No-one's car did the window auto open/close thing unless you used the key in the lock.

As it says in the manual.

I will try the holding down of the lock later on on my sport.

i sussed it, you double click lock to lock the car but be able to leave a passenger or dog etc in there without alarming,

like you have to dbl click to open all doors to allow passenders in, you have to dbl lock to allow them to be locked in the car.

i notice on the holding down unlock to open the windows, its not like locking where the windows do up completely, when you let go, they stop opening, and you can rehold unlock again to open them a little further, or hold until completly open

quite a nattly little remote!
