So I'm close at buying a Cupra R finally but I just wanted to sure about some stuff and couldn't find a better place to ask :)

First I wanted to know if there are any common & serious issues about this car. Like with my current Ibiza Cupra 2010 I have the famous high oil consumption problem which cannot keep coping with. Does the Leon suffer from such similar issues which I should be aware of before trading my car please ? I've took a look at the " Common Leon MK2 Problem Log " but I didn't find threads with such issues so I thought better ask !

Also can anyone compare the fuel consumption with the Ibiza Cupra 1.4TSI please just so I know what costs will increase for me ?

Thanks in advance guys !

No issues as such mate. Nice place to be :). Fuel can drop into the teens if gunning it. Mid 20's around town. Early 30's on a steady long run. 27-30 at 80 on cruise

One issue - you WILL become obsessed with keeping those gorgeous seats in tip top condition, infact you'll develop a new and weird way of getting out of your car!!!!

Can only echo WeeG with the fuel consumption - once she gets going, she goes and goes and goes. If you get concerned about fuel, just take it steady and save the heavy foot for roads (and situations) where it's safe and enjoyable.

Congrats on the purchase (when it happens), what colour have you gone for? Fingers crossed i'm also close to my SECOND Cupra R :)

My R doesnt use oil. Still on max 2k after a service :).

On a run sitting at 55-60mph you should see 30-35mpg. Well this is what im currenty getting, even sitting at stage 2 power.

I change my oil every 5k and don't put oil in between changes.
I don't think oil consumption is a problem on the newer Tfsi engines.

As above mpg depends on use and driving style on an average I'd say 28mpg combination of fast motorway runs and A roads with a little town running.

Davie, i cahnge my oil every 3k, ive used castrol edge and quantum (VW oil)

By far the best oil i've had, for oil consumption (running stage 2+ none in 1500 miles), smoothness on cold start etc the Millers Nano Drive 5w40 is the BOY!!!
Well worth a punt.

Just use vw quantum long life from Dave at Seremotors.
He charges approx £25

No problems as such, just watch out for cam follower wear, cheap & easy job apparently and only needs done/inspected at 30k if you have the car mapped.

My average MPG using 97 is around 26.8 but I hardly get it onto motorways or B roads so it could be better

Current mods: revo stage 1 and the revo PK380 intake

Thought Cam follower issue was sorted on the CDL engines ??

No still a serviceable item.
Not so much of a problem just something to keep an eye on.
The tsi engines use a different setup but the cdl uses the same setup as bwa etc

No changes still the same setup.
Maybe the camshaft has been revised again but the cam follower is the same part number as previous engines.
I already replaced mine.

I only changed it as my car was 2 years old and I was fitting an APR fuel pump.
Yes the follower had very little wear and would've covered the same distance again.
It was changed at approx 14k
On my previous Tfsi I changed the follower at 30k but since running my APR pump I'll be doing this one every 2 years so it'll be 24k
The cam follower isn't a problem it's the fact the VAG group haven't recognised it as a serviceable item which would eliminate any failures.
