Hi Guys and girls just like to share some recent test drive results i would like to share. my Cupra 300 is up for changing later this year i have all ready test drove a few cars ranging from golf R to merc Amg 35 and the M140i Bmw lets start with the golf planted but boring after a few mile it felt soulless and it also looks boring compared to the cupra next the merc well its overpriced nearly 43k thats specced up for a tarted up A class dont think so bucket seats in the rear no rear view/ gear selector on a stalk? come on merc quality was good
thats the end then there was the M140i great fun sounds amazing that straight six good quality drove well then i get back in mine which is not standard 370+ bhp not to be sniffed at and think i am going to struggle leaving the Cupra full stop note these are my personal thoughts may put down the deposit on the cupra r st
    best regards
    GHB

ST R in stock 300hp can be as boring as the Golf R in stock form, as i own the 4drive Cupra now, it really feels too planted and boing compared to my previous GTI PP with decent remap, so I know what you are talking about.

You sound like you really like your car and are not interested in the areas where the other cars are better (there's a few I can think of). That's great as it means you've made the right choice, but if compared more objectively I would hardly think the Cupra 300 would end up getting the "king" label in a test between those 4 cars, outside of a Cupra forum...

Depends what you want from a car - I’ve had four Cupras of varying types and now have a Golf R. Would I go back? Only if I couldn’t have another R on cost grounds - if you’re paying £43k for an R, you’re not haggling hard enough if at all - got my R with £5000 of extras for base price. Car comparison is subjective so maybe your 300 is good for what you want but come the wet weather and snow, you’ll be left behind by the all wheel drive cars - there’s a reason why rally cars have 4wd but good for you if the 300 does what you want. My 280 couldn’t put the power down in the wet - no problems in my R.

Got a preliminary delivery week for my ST R week 21 :) It has most bang for the buck (about 10-15k€ cheaper in sweden) compared to those you listed and according to the first reviews ST R is more fun to drive compared to the Cupra ST 4drive :)

You can have it with 370 BHP now for an extra £500 but that might be UK only.

I know what the op is saying. My 280 got written off so started to look what was about.
A35 was silly money with extras. Golf R great for traffic light gran prix and wet weather but there was no urgency in the drive. S3 was softer than the R so didn’t handle as well in my opinion. Tried a few others but came back to the cupra as I preferred it. I know 4wd is better in the wet to put the power down as I’ve had an evo and Subaru Sti but I like the hang on feeling it gives when you floor it. I love the front lsd grip out of corners but others like yourself prefer the 4wd. It’s all subjective to what you prefer at the end of the day but that’s not to say other cars aren’t better.

You may feel very strongly about your cars but I do wish you took the use of full stops, capital letters, grammar and general paragraph usage somewhere near as seriously.

Your post is bordering on impossible to read and I completely understand why it was assumed that £43k was talking about the Golf rather than the Merc.

As i Say again its not an English test PASS OR FAIL i admit i could have focused on the spelling etc getting a bit bored of explaining now. But most people did understand what i was trying to achieve so for the record there is to many critical folks on here focusing on get the WORDS correct. it is supposed to be a welcoming and friendly site to put info on and my views are changing yet again so i want to point out
a few strong words there are good and nice people on here and i speak for those but a lot of toss pots that i would not piss on if they were on fire simple

A lack of grammar is annoying yet nowhere near as annoying as people on the internet who feel the need to belittle people who have an inability to use it.

Glad the car suits you OP, if we all wanted the same thing the world would be boring

Totally agree, as long as we can understand what someone is trying to say that is all that matters. We all have to learn that not everyone did higher english and does it really matter, I think not. I still remember my first job interview and the boss said my higher english was not that important for the job (Civil Engineering), as long as I could communicate I would be fine. He was more worried that I did not play golf, but said I would soon learn and I got the position and was there for 5 years, still can't play golf though.

A tad off subject but, my wife is a senior accountant and does a lot of hiring. Any text speak, bad grammar, poor spelling, etc in a CV results in it being File 13'ed. It might be OK for a checkout operator, it's not OK for responsible jobs. It doesn't matter if she knows what the applicant is trying to say, it's unacceptable.
I shudder to think that a report on an engineering project is open to interpretation of what someone thinks you're trying to say
Personally, I think writing like a 4 year old destroys any credibility someone might have.

You are saying "higher English", I can testify that not even "average English" was always a given in multinational research organizations and project collaborations that I've been part of, and that was not limited to personal/oral conversations but even made its way into official technical documentation and procedures too sometimes. Yet I can't recall a case where a screw-up occurred because of that. The overall level of understanding was enough to overcome the smaller or greater language/cultural/mentality influences on the way people from all over the world were expressing themselves.

Much less significant then in a car enthusiast forum I would imagine?

Wow, haven't been on this post since Monday, thought I'd drop by and see what the progress is only to discover it has since been turned into an English literature history lesson about someones "short hand" typing. It's a car forum not a typing exam. BORING.
