For that amount of cash, with prices of performance cars as they are, you're looking at basically the best LCRs out there mate. Low miles. Very low.

Its a buyer's market at themoment. Seriously, you could get two fairly decent LCRs for 6500 right now, or one utterly mint low miler.

Mine was 3k. High miles but good conditio and all the important work such as cambelt, clutch, etc already done.

But remember, miles don't mean much really. Better to get a high miler thats been cherished than a low miles dog.

They're not selling well at the moment (LCRs or anything fast and petrol) so find the best one you can and make an indecent offer and go from there.

For those that have gone to TDI 150 from a 20VT petrol engine, the two are quite different in driving styles: the diesel has a narrow powerband and needs to be kept between 2K and 4K rpm for big grins. Below 2K the turbo is not delivering full boost, and above 4K you're losing torque as the curve drops off.

So in the LCR is it best to change at 4000 rpm for maximum acceleration?

No, that would be the TDi. The LCR will happily rev to the red line.

As has been said, they're not really comparable, an LC180 will smoke (excuse the pun) a standard TDi 150 everywhere, and it'll still take out a stage 1 mapped TDi at higher speeds. The LCR is an another league.

You need to be doing upwards of 20k miles a year for the Economy of the TDi to become a major factor. They're more expensive to buy because Joe in the street isn't intelligent enough to work out that paying £1500 extra up front for the diesel is going to take years to pay itself back when you're only doing 500 miles a month.

I was going to say that sounded abit odd haha, tbh I think I'm going to get the LCR 225. What other easy/cheapish mods I can do?

Doing that many miles I wouldn't even consider not buying the LCR. I just got my cupra today, 80 miles home down the M6 in rush hour, lots of time going nowhere. Averaged 35.4 mpg, not to bad for the performance, must admit I expected less? But imho you want an LCR, its fantastic :D:D

I bet there isn't many cars that keep up with the LCR 225 when it's in full flow;)
