Cupra Stage 1 Remap Clutch / Fly Wheel

Hi all, after some nasty reversing up a vicious hill and some over-zelaous fun, the clutch has given up the ghost and now lies strewn in a dealers forecourt.

Have advised me of £1000+VAT for the clutch and fly wheel to be done, assuming this is standard Seat fare.

Got Cupra R with Revo Stage 1, should I be upgrading the clutch accordingly.

Would like the option of taking it elsewhere to get a better price or different parts, do you know of garages who might be able to pick it up, surrey/hampshire area. jkm?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Just looking into this myself. The standard clutch isn't massively expensive from the dealer, i've been quoted around £150 +VAT. The cost of the flywheel is ridiculous, quoted £492 +VAT for this!! You also need the slave cylinder/release bearing which is in the region of £35 +VAT

If you have a look on Euro Car Parts the standard flywheel, which I believe is made by LUK is around £250. This is eligibly the same part made by the same people it just doesn't have the all important VAG branding. The clutch kit and bearing were around the same price as the dealer.

You should get a uprated sachs clutch, it would work out cheaper ;)

Yes a standard clutch is man enough for a stage 1 as long as you dont drive it like a spanner and boot it from low down in high gears.

Brad1 where have you seen an uprated sachs for less than £150 +VAT. The next step sachs is the organic which is in the region of £400 from what I can make out.

Just round the corner.
£1000 + vat, Jesus!!!
I got the whole clutch kit for £370.00.
It should be around a 2 hour job, and even labour at most of £100.00 p/hr.
That seems far too high.
I've seen other dealer prices are around £700.00.

This is whats scaring me getting a remap just now. Just cant bear the thought of forking out hundreds and the inconvenience of not having a car.

OE clutch is perfectly fine with a remap if, as said above, you don't overload the clutch. Not had a single issue since remapping. Perhaps you should consider a less aggressive map such as CC which has less peak torque (than some other maps) but extends it across the rev range...

Are you sure that the flywheel is knackered? If not you are looking at 2 hours labour and £150 for a clutch and slave cyl tops. I did 60,000 re-mapped miles on a standard clutch before my gearbox blew up taking the clutch with it (and I drive like I stole it, although I do accelerate in the right gear)
