Sad news, Clyde Valley Racing have withdrawn from the BTCC.

However, Cartridge World are aiming to run Adam Jones to the end of the season independantly from CVR.

I'm sure this will get around pretty quickly, this is the quote I received via the Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing group on facebook

"25/08/09
Cartridge World is delighted to confirm that Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing will endeavour to line up on the grid for the final three weekends of the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), despite the withdrawal of Team CVR (Clyde Valley Racing), the original outfit behind the carbon-zero racing team.

Cartridge World and team driver Adam Jones are working together, with the aim that Adam will race independently for Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing, driving his yellow-liveried SEAT Leon at Silverstone, Rockingham and Brands Hatch.

Mark Holland, UK General Manager for Cartridge World, said: “Adam has performed consistently throughout the season, the highlight being the podium at Thruxton. We’re looking forward to watching him end the season on a high, and seeing the striking yellow of Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing leading the field again. It’s going to be a hectic few days, but hopefully we can pull this together in time for Silverstone.”

“Cartridge World, its franchisees and customers are thoroughly enjoying following Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing. We are proud to be associated with the first team created with the intention of operating a completely carbon zero operation, and we remain committed as a company to guiding our consumers on how to continue reducing their carbon footprint.”

Cartridge World has expressed its disappointment that Team CVR has had to withdraw. As well as ensuring it always met its contractual obligations with Team CVR, Cartridge World offered the team access to specialists on its management team, aiming to create as beneficial a relationship as possible for both parties involved.

Cartridge World is the market leading retailer of refilled and remanufactured printer cartridges. Using specifically formulated inks or toners, Cartridge World stores can refill all major brands of ink and laser cartridge. The end result is a high quality product offering the customer substantial savings on the cost of an original and an environmentally-friendly alternative to throwing the cartridge into landfill."

I'm not entirely surprised by this news. Reading between the lines, I think financially it's been struggling for a while and seems the Jones camp were handing over most of the coin.

A shame but good to here at least that Adam is carrying on, and maybe Shedden or another driver can bring some sponsorship to the table to run a second car dependent on ownership rights.

If theres no SEAT in motorsport next year I wont be watchin any :(

:( hope they can sort some thing out

I think we all do. This season has got out of control - what it really proves is that it ain't as easy as it looks to run a touring car outfit and it's NEVER just about money.:(

90% of racing happen off the track. You have to learn your trade and respect that this is an age old industry. A big sponsor and a couple of cars simply won't get you through a season.

I might seem gushy but all the money in the world doesn't maketh a team...as you guys know, you need to bleed yellow to come close to winning.

Cartridge World is disappointed to confirm that Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing is unable to line up on the grid for the final three weekends of the 2009 HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), following the withdrawal of Team CVR (Clyde Valley Racing), the original outfit behind the carbon-zero racing team.

Cartridge World and both team drivers, Adam Jones and Gordon Shedden, have investigated various options to enable them to compete in the last three weekends’ races. However, they have concluded that this will not be possible, and therefore Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing will no longer appear in the championship.

Mark Holland, UK General Manager for Cartridge World, said: “Cartridge World, and both team drivers have had a hectic few days investigating how we could keep the striking yellow cars on the grid. The will was certainly there, but in the end we have had to admit that we are unable to make it happen.

What a shame for the sponsors and drivers. I was looking forward to seeing what Gordon and Adam could do together.

I think this year is finished for us(except for Liam McMillan maybe).
On another note, if Chevy and BMW pull out of WTCC this year SEAT might send a couple of its TDi's to BTCC along with Yvan and Gabrielle..

When I first heard the news I was sad and can see similarities with how I felt when SSUK/NorthernSouth pulled the plug roughly this time last year.

But I don't think it is entirely finished for you guys who follow the brand in motorspot most staunchly. You have SEAT Sport of course and theirs SEAT's in the DTC and STCC. And what about the one-make Leon championships? The SEAT Leon Eurocup?

It certainly isn't finished for guys like me who don't follow the brand in motorsport as staunchly. I like WSR a lot and will probably go back to supporting them full-time next season and I like both Adam Jones and Jase'.
