OK so here goes! As the title suggests, this is my daily runabout used for work & everything else I use a car for!

I don't want/need to go nuts on this, but as my previous 3 Seat's have been quite 'gusty' particularly this car's predecessor (Cupra 290) I have my eye on a few performance enhancements over the coming weeks.

Firstly let's deal with a few cosmetic tweaks:-

Key mod

Not 100% sure about the rubber thing yet TBH - will leave as is and report back! The metal end cap is nice though.

Next up some Seat branded dust caps - just coz!

20190521_110350.jpg

Then the spray washers as opposed to the original triple jet washers

20190521_110358.jpg

Then some pedal covers - totally transforms the footwell in my opinion! Best tenner I've spent in a while!

20190521_110515.jpg

A few more mods planned:-
  • USB (charge only) port above the 'coin bin' adjacent the light switch
  • Dashcam
  • Sound-deadening the boot + under rear bench and then doors if I can muster up the time & energy for the 2 hour per door slog!
  • LED fog light upgrade
In time, the performance mods I'd like to make are:-
  • Stage 1 remap
  • DSG remap
  • Lower by 20/30mm
  • Cat back exhaust with 2 x twin exhaust
  • Fresh air induction kit
Will try and keep all you helpful guys and girls updated as I go!

That should fit my Leon right
Yep, I would have thought so - the brake pedal is a replacement for the rubber that's there already and the accelerator is a over cover which is a bit fiddly to fit, but nice & snug once you've broken all your nails fitting it!

Just popped some new wheel nut covers on as there were 2 missing when I collected the car. Not a deal breaker but just a Grrrrrrr moment!

OLD (matt grey)

NEW (gloss black)

Quite like the gloss black as it matches other gloss black bits on the car, but you can tell they're a cheapo eBay copy when you take the remaining OEM ones off!!

Just done the 2 pedals - haven't looked for the footrest cover TBH. I thought it would be too 'in your face' with that huge thing chromed!!!

OK!

Dashcam & USB port install day!

First up, pop the blank plug:-

20190522_083852.jpg

Then out with the centre console screen (not a job for the faint-hearted!)

20190522_083855.jpg

Then piggy-backed off the fuse:-

20190522_105520.jpg

Then connected this to fuse piggyback:-

s-l1600.jpg

Wrapped in cloth tape and zip-tied to a handy bit of metal:-

20190522_105515.jpg

Then put a fork terminal on the ground, undid the Torx screw visible in the bottom of the above picture and terminated it between the plastic trim and metal frame (cloth tape again!):-

20190522_110110.jpg

Then ran the cable for the USB charging port (just visible behind the console screen):-

20190522_105525.jpg

Then cut a square hole in the blank plug and inserted this:-

s-l1600.jpg

Which ended up looking like this once inserted:-

20190522_105535.jpg

Then back together time!!

20190522_105640.jpg

And now I've run out of space in this post to put up more images!

I ran the cable for the Dashcam up behind the pillar cover on the passenger's side and under the headlining, then mounted the camera behind the centre mirror totally out of sight from the driving position!

So far so good

I wanted an OEM look to my USB charging point (for my phone which is on a screen mount to the right of the steering wheel) and I'm pretty happy that I have achieved that.

I also hate trailing leads everywhere so a 'fitted' dashcam was an absolute must for me, as was the need to rid the USB cable that sued to trail from the port by the aux-in over the top of the steering wheel to my phone.

So all good!

Really neat job you've done there. Might give it a try as I've just got the obd port cover removed and a usb cable hanging out of it.

It's not the first car I've pulled to pieces! The first was an ancient Rover 200 (I think) that belonged to my grandfather, so the stakes weren't too high if I as a 16 yr old bungled it!!! And I've tinkered with many in the many years since!
