dealer trying to tell me my cupra should not have a PD160 intake

Ok, my cars in for some warranty work, thought it was wheel bearing but turned out to be excessve play in the CV joint, so joint has been changed, and also a cambelt change. However i also noticed as the per the post the other week that my car did'nt have the correct PD160 specific intake pipes. Now to me it looks like they have been removed either by previous owner or a cocky mechanic to sell on, as the retaining bolt is missing.

So i have left the car with the dealer and asked that they change it as i want the car to come with bits it should have.

So next thing i get a call to say that not all Pd160's came with the Pd160 intake. i personally think thats bollocks and they are now telling me etka shows 3 different options for the intake pipe. They are ordering me one they say is right for the car but not sure if its PD160.

I am actually getting a bit pissed off as i don;t like being taken for a monkey,

so has anyone heard of this untruth before and can confirm this is the case or are they just spinning me a yarn.

as above check ya details and we'll see bit at first glance at a 2004 for example there is indeed 3 different pipes for 4 engine codes listed but they are in fact 2 different numbers when you list them properly

intake pipe
6Q0 129 618 G
ASY - 64bhp
ATD - 100bhp
ASZ - 130bhp

6LL 129 618
BPX - 160bhp

intake air duct
6Q0 129 621 B
ASY - 64bhp
ATD - 100bhp

6Q0 129 621 A
ASZ - 130bhp

6LL 129 621
BPX - 160bhp

pm'd ya the numberplate,

All i know is that Tristan at Ted johnston was helpful and told me that all pd160 stuff starts 6LL and thats specific to the cupra.

got ya details through so ignore above as thats using 2004 reference and different engine codes

*edit*

yours is listed as 2006 / BUK engine (160)

intake pipe
6LL 129 618
BPX - 160bhp
BUK - 160bhp

intake air duct
6LL 129 621
BPX - 160bhp
BUK - 160bhp

same details as the earlier BPX motor from what i can see so yes should have a 160 size pipe + duct according to Etka but then what the factory do from time to time can be a little freaky.

if it helps 2007 + 2008 also same info listed

is there any parts left you say ? or is the whole pipe/duct missing ?

sounds like someone swapped it for the pd130 or pd100 one for a few quid...sell for about 30-40 quid second hand....

No worries, but take that as listed in Etka for sure, as for real life well build codes/dates etc change all the time as i remember a 6 month old Leon owner turning up on day asking how to turn on the heated seats that were specced to his car but no one had been told from week 31 they were no longer available so wierd stuff does happen believe you me.

as your initial post if the pipe (albeit a 130) is there with no bolt then check for physical signs of one fitted - look in threads etc.

does sound like a dodgy swap from outside but then who can say what/where/when/how etc ??

Well its coyote off heres old car so hopefully theres nothing else missing,

Engine? Wheels? Chassis?

As I said to you before, I never really checked as the car flew as it was and remembering what a ball ache it was to get to the air filter with a strut brace on I pretty much left the engine bay alone as it was my work car.

well guess what, the dealer put a PD160 intake on it yesterday after admitting it needed it. Whilst in it also had cambelt, new tyres ( not at my expense) and all wheel bearings checked to banish this noise, but turned out it may hae also been the near side driveshaft which was also changed due to play int he CV joint.

So just got to wait for my box of goodies to turn up and fit them and i'll be happy with it, Sideskirts going on, LCR front splitter, prefacelift cupra gear knob, ( i hate the stupid huge joystick type one) aluminium gear surround, Strut brace, and then hopefully get the wheels refurbed in black to finish the look off.

Then just carry on getting the exterior cleaned, as the paintwork has been introduced to polish and wax for the first time.....lol

And yeah your right Coyote, it does fly. Happy with it and hopefully i can leave it alone so i can get on with sorting the track car for 2010.

Also really chuffed with this venting lark,
