Standard shifter bracket

You can see where the back of the pin has been rivited over to stop it coming out. I ground it back a few mm so that I could knock the pin out with a punch.

Like this.

Used a punch to drive the pin out. Pin out.

Drilled and tapped the pin to M5 (just for belts and braces realy).

Drilled new hole @ 8mm, the od of the pin was 8.13mm so its a nice interferance fit. New pin position.

how easy was it to get the pin out of the backet?

in an earlier post you wrote:-

On the pluss side, there is loads of room to do the side to side bracket.

It prob took about 40 mins to do. Very easy to do if you have the right tools.
Grind off the back of the pin where it is rivited over then knock the pin out with a punch.

The hardest part is actualy getting the cable off the ball/pin. I used a 13mm spanner and put it inbetween the shifter bracket and cable end and forced it off the ball/pin. No drilling required to remove it.

I might try the side to side one next week.

so only the forward backward movement of the gearstick has been reduced 40 %?

the side to side movement is controlled the plate connection and has not changed:confused:
