Do my new Leon Cupra demand 19”?

Hi,

I’m new at this forum and I have a question. I have just bought a Leon Cupra ST (Performance 300) 4Drive -18 and I kept my 17” winter wheels from my Octavia RS -15 to use on the Cupra, but now someone told me that my new Cupra demands 19”. Is that true? Is it because of bigger breaks or something?

If you have the performance back with the 4 pot 370mm Brembos, you will need at least 18", and then they'll have to have a good clearance still to fit.

But 17's don't fit. I believe 17's may fir the standard Cupra's 340mm brakes though.

OK, thanks! If anyone knows for sure that 18” will fit I would appreciering if you could tell me. I’m just about to order new winter wheels and I rather order 18” instead of 19”.

I’d hang fire, as you’ll need 18” wheels that will fit ideally with out spacers.

You’re better off waiting for the car and then taking it to a wheel specialist to see what fits.

No mine are 19" and 45 offset and there aint a lot of room there.

My original 19" wheels would not fit as they were 50" offset.

OK. Just to confirm; TD ProRace 1.2 8x18 will fit at ET40. Others may, but it depends on spoke profile internally and internal diameter of rim (allowing for weights which may have to be positioned further in). Not all TD/Rimstock 18" wheel designs have sufficient internal diameter.

I'd suggest covering the front edges of the calipers with masking tape when you try fitting.

Not a bad looking wheel either...

If you have standard brakes then the 17s should fit.
I say this because daughter has a TTS (current model) with 19s,but also has the Audi approved winter wheels for it which are 17s.
However,as above,if the bigger Brembos.

With the 40 offset I take it that the wheel arch clearance is still OK?
Also,do you notice any more torque steer with the wider offset? ( I know this can happen on some cars. )

No problems with clearance on mine which are actually ET42, but I can't see the 2mm difference being an issue even when the shoulder is at its closest when turning. Even less of a problem if using 225s rather than my 235s.

Can't comment on the torque steer just yet as I'm still running in (mostly Eco with increasing use of Sport over 80 degrees oil temp), and I've got winter rubber on which I really want to leave on the tyres while the roads are relatively warm. ;-)
