I've got to ask the question as I'm not doing the mileage to warrant spending loads on it.

'52 Leon 1.4 and the f/os spring has cracked.
MOT is due and it is a fail.

Do I get the MOT for another year at a cost of around £200 (assuming nothing else is wrong).
Do I put a small ad and get shut of it for peanuts.
Do I scrap it and get walnuts?
Not looked into how much I'd get for it either way - that's a job for tomorrow.

Heart says spend and keep for a while. It's still the cheapest option while I can keep it running.
Head says scrap coz sellings a hassle.

Any advice on what to ask/expect mechanically as well as financially would be greatly appreciated. Crystal balls and lottery tickets are optional ;)

If the car is reliable then it's a no-brainer to keep it. Whatever you replace it with may need more than £200 spending on it over the next year any way.
