Door seal problem

From the title most of you will be think, "just use the search button" and by now looking up the DIY thread to post the link.

well i have a problem along the lines of the DIY thread. Basically. the previous own has done that to the car to stop it from leaking. but he hasn't done a great job of it.

So i want to try and sort this myself.

i have 2 options i think.

1. be lazy and seal around the bottom seal on the outside of the seal with undoing the panel.

2. undo the panel and scrape out as much as i can and start again. the only thing is do i rip the entire seal out from the bottom or leave it?

Any help would be great.

As tomorrow is a bank holiday i thought i'd spend the day playing with the car!

would you take out the old seal or try and leave it?

ok cool. well i'll let you know how it goes. the only thing is would it be easier to take that whole pannel out or just lift it up?

Leave the top bolts in.

No problem, just loosen them a bit but don't remove them.
