Double Din Help..

I Bought a double din off the internet a Xtrons ones and i went to fit it but it does not fit flush it sticks out about an inch or two and is annoying as i can no longer use my cup holder or see my climate control unit,

So i went into HAlfords and asked a silly question about if all double dins are the same length and he said yes and ive seen on here people with double dins all fit flush

So do you have to make any mods so that it fits in ? For example cut away the long but behind were the single din and tray would have been?

Helps and pics appreciated!

Cheers

Mine was a flush fit, Pioneer one.

The retard halfords emplyee will simply have thought you meant as in the 'size' being double din, taking up 2 slots, of coure theyre all different depths, dependant on what there are etc.

Sad to say, those cheap eBay ones are always huge and stick out whenever I've seen them fitted, like all the ripseed units people put it and fit shockingly.

How have you fitted it? Cage or brackets?

I had one of these but made my own brackets to move it back, was in a Kia though not a seat.

It came in a cage so just slotted it in kind of thing but sticks out to much

Id be interested to see what yours fits like if you could upload a pic? and i will go take on of mine shortly...
When u fitted yours did it simply just fit in or did you have to file or chop anything away?

As you can see its quite far out :(

Quick thought the "spine" bit behind where it is would i be able to chop that out so that it fits better?

Edit - TD713 is the model number

I'm looking at one of these, are they any good.. I know they are cheap but doesn't mean they can't be good for the money.. One on the bay for £45 and only about £135 new

For the money they are not so bad! However I am having to send mine back (at my cost) to be repaired, i have had it in since Friday but it freezes a lot and my drivers door speaker does not work when this is plugged in but I swap back to the original stereo and it works fine?

That looks much more manageable! when I get it back I will just have to try Forcing it in a bit more and making sure there is nothing behind it

Everytime I've read something about fitting a double din on here, it always involved cutting.

There's definitely a bit of chopping needed mate. I can't be of any help because I haven't done it myself. Good luck with it though!

You need to cut the tabs off where the shelf that sits below the standard radio clips into. That will help the radio go further back. Then just see where else it rubs and smooth off anything that stops the surround going flush into the car.

when we fitted my pioneer, we had to cut and sand down the facia So that there was no tabs, then behind where the single dinn stereo sat (top slot) you will see a molded plastic shelf with a hole in it, cut the whole lot out with snips and it will sit alot further in as you can push all the cables out of the way and in tern look OEM.

That looks so much better! the stereo is going back to be repaird or replaced as it does not play through the drivers speaker :S so when its out if i take a couple of pics can you point out the bits that need snipping out or sanding
cheers

took some pictures whilst i had the fascia off for vinyl wrapping.

Snip the back piece like this and then you can tuck in the cables behind it to give you more space and access:

Im assuming that you have already filed down the side lugs otherwise virtually no double dinn unit will fit in:

then once its all done and trimmed it should look something like this:

Hi guys/girls, I am new to the forum and the Ibiza. Accidentally bought a double din Pioneer system for the wee beastie and I am wondering if any of you know the exact cable I need to make it work? I have seen differing info on the net, some saying you don't even need it? surely not? Anyways, If any of you can help me, I will be forever in your debt.
