DRL sidelights, anyone done it?

Hi Guys
I want to get some LED 501's and to use my sidelights as Daytime Running Lights, has anyone else done this and if so can you tell me how you wired them up to run independently from the rear lamps?

i did it with my angel eyes, ran it off my headunit to amp connection! couldnt find anywhere else in the engine bay
