DSG judder when crawling forward?

Hi,

Did a quick search and came up dry, apologies if this has been covered and I've missed it.

Picked up my DSG TDi on Saturday and since then I've noticed that when it's crawling forward under its own devices when in traffic (no brake, no throttle) there's a slight juddering/vibration. It almost feels like the revs are ever so slightly too low.

As soon as I give it any gas the juddering stops, even if it's only taking it to 900-1000 revs.

I didn't notice this on the other DSG TDi I drove but that was a couple of months back and I may have forgottten.

Sound familiar to anyone?

Mine doesn't judder, it creaps forward nicely, sure the engine isn't cold when it's doing this. The other thing is one quesses is whether it is run in. If it's brand new I'd wait for it to run in a bit before getting too bothered about the tick over speed.

I do get sometimes a variable speed running tick over when cold which is interesting as the pitch alters as the cars tickover is increased and decreased, that one can be off putting to listen to but, it doesn't happen too often and that's only a slight variation in the engine speed as presumably the engine management is adjusting stuff.

See what other people say.

Well this seems to happen when the engine is both cold and warm although I've not been able to try it after a decent (2hrs+) run. I'm off to London later in the week so I'll try it after 110 miles of motorway.

It's got 6700miles on the clock so I'd expect it to be run in although I did hear someone mention that the VW group diesel engines don't come into their own till 20k?

Well there was talk with the earlier cars here, 2004 or so, about the engine management software needed to be upgraded to a latter version in the DSG to take out poor running and starting problems, but I would have guessed that is all history now. Klaus perhaps can help ?.

I will get like a kick back or a potential stall if I start the car off and try to head down the road too quickly and commence a rolling start without putting my foot down, that is only when it's cold and I don't wait 15 or 30 seconds from starting off, other than that tick over is fast enough to cruise forward in 1st gear in slow moving traffic on tick over alone. Sounds as if you might need it looked at.

I do get a variable idle speed when cold and this is also noticable on over run when moving. However I don't get any judder or vibration from the DSG when creeping forward it pulls smoothly. I have only covered 4800 miles from new (April 05) so your judder/viration can't a running in issue. Have it looked at.
