These are 'supposed' to be a little more reliable on non-dbw 1.8T's. Just so happen to have one now too (A3).

They are awful pretty...

it's safe to say this (and any other BOV) is for those prepared to take the risk and that have some understanding of the reasons the DV works the way it does.

The only safe, 100% correctly working method is a DV ; of which the Forge 007p is the most common and best supported.

Just quickly, I need to source a blanking plug for my TIP, for when I install an HKS temporarily to test.

What diameter are they, and where can i get one?

25mm plug, Forge sell them, get them on eBay probably too. You'll need vacuum hose and a 8-to-4mm adapter and/or a 4-to-4mm joiner too.

got a link to ebay ones please?

Rob, i don't think i'll need any of that extra stuff - richybigman is gonna try his on my car - and he must have everything needed to fit it cos he's already tried it??? Only bit he says is missing is the blanking cap, but he burrowed one from his mate.

Cool, just lettin' you know of stuff you may need, nothing worse than starting a job and realising you haven't got something you need to finish it.

tell me about it! I always get 1/2way through, then realise that i need something and my cars immobile! lol

I'd think that the vac hose would attach directly to my T piece for my boost gauge anyway.... other than that cant think of anything i'm missing. But we'll see no doubt :p

No need to buy a blanking plug if you want to try it, just cut a plastic broom handle and jam it in. and jubilee it up.

Keep us posted to the results.

Well I can tell you now that 2 hks's have been installed recently - 1 on an LCR and 1 on an LC.

LC is running fine (so I'm told) but the LCR is a no go - limp mode all the time, big issues there.

Rob etc - do i HAVE to remove the vac reservoir to get one of these to work, or does that just help? Craig mentioned some threads on vwvortex saying that the reservoir should be kept so that it can help to limit boost......

Apparently it can cause overboosting, and hence limp mode. SO I'm told anyway.

I hit limp mode recently, and i don't know why. I asked about temps and boost levels on here a week or so ago, and it seems car boosts MORE in summer, so i've turned revo down, but still pushing 22ish PSI. I don't want to remove the reservoir and then start hitting 23+ psi, cos then I'd be limp mode all the time, which would be crap.
