Egr blanking plate

I just disconnected the pipe that connects to the EGR, does the same as a plate. Dash lights on but the ECU doesn’t reduce performance.
I’m planning a remap at a future date and will ask that they remove the EGR check from the ECU.
In short, do you need a remap. No, not if you are prepared to take an MOT into consideration (if mines not mapped out I can simply reconnect the hose and reset the OBD2)
