Has anyone had any recurring problems with their Engine Diagnostic Light coming on recognising their induction kits?

Fitted a Hurracane to my Ibiza 20vt a couple of months back and everything was fine for a month and a half or so.

Had the car in for a service, 3 days later engine light comes on. Car drives fine,so take it back to the dealer and the run a fault check:

'Secondary Air Injection System: Incorrect Flow Detected'

They said its due the the induction kit which sounds feasible. They reset everything and of I went.
Now, 4 days later light back on again. aaaargh. Why is it now doing this when it was fine before?

Do they reset anything when they do the service? Anything that can be tweaked to stop the light coming on?

Any advice guys.

You have the flexi pipe connected to where?
this is the aux air pump supply.

Bill,
everything is connected were its supposed to be. (as per the instructions). Just had a quick check and all connections are tight.

sounds similar to the error i've had on mine since new...
Russell,
Have you ever got it sorted? I've either got to keep getting the light reset or put up with it is the answer i've got from my dealership.

Was yours a problem before fitting an induction kit?

Just don't understand why its now doing it? I would of thought that the engine would have immediately detected it when i first put the kit on. Not weeks after...cars running perfectly.

Cheers for the help guys.

There would be no reason for this fault to be logged from the Hurricane.... (Hurricane? How old is that? 2nd hand one?)

Bill,
Second hand of Shock_Xe's car. Cleaned before fitted to mine.
I'm not knocking the kit at all.:)

I suppose i'll have to put the old air box back on, take it back to the dealer and have everything re-set. See if the light comes on again with std equipement.Pain the arse or what!

Thanks,

Best to remove it before taking to Stealer.... you just know it would get the blame for no real reason other than its their cop out.

Interested to hear what it actually turns out to be tho.

Thanks chaps,

Being as i'm a technical spastic when it comes to engines can someone give me a rough idea of what the 'Secondary Air Injection System' is/does.
I just know that if I go in with my original airbox and cat-back exhaust system on they'll just try to fob me off by blaming 'the non-standard exhaust'.

Exhaust won't effect anything would it?

To be continued....

I'm getting the secondary air blower replaced on mine next week, on my standard cupra. The engine management light keeps coming on, and the dealer reckons that's the reason. Apparently it blows hot air onto the cat to get it heated up quickly - only really crucial if you do lots of short trips around town so it would never heat up otherwise.
