The latest copy of Evo magazine (May 2007) has just dropped through my letter box.

It has a group test of the following cars; Mini Cooper S, Vauxhall Corsa VXR, Renault Cio 197 and the Ibiza Cupra 1.8T.

Thought it might interest a few members.

Quite funny because on a certain stretch of road the clio cannot actually keep up with the other 3! Too much lard and no torque!

its funny but i would take an ibiza over the other 3 hands down

mini is a girls car, and the other 2 just are too girly styling wise and i would not feel safe in one like i do in an ibiza

although you say that, but the mini's chassis is 7 yrs old, the new version and the old one share the same chassis. and like the review does say, te ibiza was there o make up the numbers,

??????

as an evo reader and track day atendee i can say that they most definitely do know what there talking about, but do not quite understand how they give it such a low score as all the way through the test they seem to really like it?

maybe i need to read it again, or maybe its because they tried the crappy petrol version not the proper diesel on:banned:

p.s. only joking only joking only joking onlyjoking only joking only joking

sorry:whistle:

I get EVO too and they do seem to be really keen on the Cupra (they do note that it's a much older chassis than the rest) but i was also suprised at the low star rating when they gave it such good reviews.

I was suprised to read that the 197 couldn't keep up - it is a tidy car though and i'd still have 1 :)

Of the 4 the only 1 i don't think i'd have is the new mini, i much prefer the previous model (like Ant FR's)

just dont believe everything you read, most people get cars on their reviews. I used to but dont anymore, I have test driven the civic type r 4 times now thinking it should be brilliant and the best from what everyone says. I really wanted to like it hence I kept having test drives but its seems to get more bland everytime I drive it. It might be because my mate has an integra type r though and that really is brilliant in every way, unfortunately too old now though. I wish the civic was more like that. still these reviews dont phase me as I know how good the Cupra is, plus I feel more unique in it.

gonna get this on my way home from work tonight as my mate is getting the corsa vxr when it comes out...has been waiting since the beginning of october for it!

should be an interesting read. as cup-racing said, we know how good the ibiza is and i have only seen 2 other ones on the road since getting mine back in june last year!

Cupras are rare. Since getting my car Ive seen quite a few normal ibizas, but only two FR's and one Cupra.

I see that you live in dartford, is the WJ king seat dealer the closest one to you or is there another one around the south east of london?
