Right I've had my car VAG-COM'd and I have a faulty air flow meter as my ESP light was on all the time. (LCR)

Now the question is.. dose the air flow meter have any connetion to the air filtter? as my car is still under warrenty I'll be taking it to the dealers to sort out, but I have a aftermarket air filter (RAM air). Just wandering if I'll have to put the std filter back on to stop any "the aftermarket air filter casued the fault so you will have to pay" ???

the MAF air flow meter is stuck right next to the air filter, so they wont be changing it if there is an aftermarket filter in the car.

PUT std back on!

EDIT: The MAF's are very sensitive, and usually b*ggered up by oil in the aftermarket filters. I know when I clean my filter next time I shall be VERY careful with the oil. In fact, I am going to start a new thread on it now...

"Yet RamAirs' Aeriform material is unaffected by moisture – namely owing to it's unique polymer oil. "

Must be some form of oil in it... Its not a paper filter.

It's a spray on polymer that collects the crap, not oiled in the traditional way. Second spray to clean and then reapply polymer.

No oiled MAF for Mrs Badgers Loopy 1.8T Lupo in the last 12 months of use....according to Bill.

The way the RamAir is made is, erm......'cheap'.....and a lot of virbration can be transmitted to the MAF. I have RamAir at the moment but may switch to Dynatwist or something .....love the sound though. MAF's don't like virbration :(

Its not an oil as in oil... its a sticky polymer...
not an oil as in thin and drippy...
