ive got a faulty rear washer on my ibiza. ive seen the threads and a video about how to fix this, but after running the rear washer for 10 seconds, i can hear the motor whirring but see no leaks under the car, in the boot etc. im debating paying a clickmechanic, but i think the price of £62.47 (which will probably change if i go for a quote tomorrow) is a bit steep. am i better off going to garage for this or shall i just suck it up and pay?
my plan B is using hydrophobic coating on the rear windscreen, but would just rather have the jet working. i can hardly see out of it on most days

heres what click mechanic have on their page:

What is included?

Parts & Labour (unless stated)
VAT (if applicable)
FREE call out (to your home or office)
12 month warranty on parts & labour

What happens? *

Mechanic inspects washer jet.
Mechanic replaces washer jet, if faulty.
Mechanic will advise if other components need replacing.
Mechanic tests washer jets, makes adjustments where necessary.

What are the symptoms?

Washer jet does not work.
Weak washer jet.
Washer jet behaves erratically.

That's actually a pretty reasonable price I think. Anything that requires a callout is going to start at £50. At least you get the choice of when and where for that. A garage will likely charge at least £30 for half an hours work... that's excluding if any parts need replacing.

fair enough. i have no issue with going to a garage for this, but since this includes parts and the callout its probably a reasonable price as you say. i might do it in that case

spark plug replacement from clickmechanic is showing up between £50-70. feel like i could buy tools and spark plugs for cheaper than that though so i might do that myself

Yeah, again I think the majority of that is callout / fuel to get to you. Changing spark plugs is easy. To an extent cheaper to buy the tools. But once you factor in the plugs, 3/8th ratchet, extension bar, deep socket, torque wrench. But at least you have them for the next time.

this kit has everything i need (as far as im aware)
https://www.halfords.com/workshop-t...fords-advanced-7-piece-spark-plug-service-kit

and then i can get 4 sparkplugs with change for £18 so i think itll be worthwhile learning to do this myself. think ill just eat the cost for the rear washer because itll be worth it to have it working again and ill see if he is willing to stick a jubilee clip on the hose or something

The click mechanic quote probably only considers a normal washer jet, which are easy to sort out.
If the rear one on your ibiza is properly clogged or rusted solid it's much more to get it fixed.

i see, are there any checks i can do myself to see if this is the case? ive already fondled a pin down the hole of the jet which obviously didnt make a difference

Well you could pop the tube off the end of the jet and see if water comes flying out when you turn it on.

That way you'd know if it was a blocked jet or a problem with the pipework or pump

found a local garage that will change them for £15. ive decided ill pay for this service because i can get them to diagnose the issue with my washer while im there. im going to ask about an oil change too as i want a thorough one done before winter
