Fitting an auto gauge oil temp gauge

I have baught an auto gauge oil temperature gauge and want to fit it to my 110 tdi.

What sender unit will I need and where can it go on the engine??

Also, what pod have you used?

That one is an 1/8" NPT, is that correct? Some of the past posts says it should be an M10 and thats the one comes with the autogauge.

Post 3 in the link says

You can either buy and adapter to convert the thread in the oil filter housing to 1/8 27NPT thread from what i believe will be an M10x1 thread, or you can buy a tap and tap the hole out to a 1/8 27NPT thread.

You can't convert a thread to 1/8 NPT with a convertor thread and also tap out the hole to 1/8 with a new tap. Either a tap will be needed to make the current hole larger or an insert is needed in which case the hole will be smaller.

Is the thread in the oil filter housing M10 or 1/8''? I don't want any inserts or to have to tap out the hole. I just want to simply screw the sender unit into the hole in the filter housing!
