Flashing coil light....Limp Mode - oh dear!

A few weeks ago I bought a 2012 CR FR (140) 2.0 TDI, only 34000 miles on the clock, it was bought from a dealership and everything was fine for the first week or so. Then out of the blue I noticed a flashing coil icon on the dash, followed by limp mode and the emissions light. Local garage ran a diagnostic, said it was fine, I was advised to use use a diesel additive and give the car a decent run out to regen the DPF. I did a motorway run (about 90 miles) mostly in 4th gear @ 60-70mph, this seemed to do the trick, however the past few days the flashing coil light has appeared again (restart usually clear it and gets the car out of limp mode). I bought a cheap bluetooth code reader and it's gave a couple of error codes, P0401 EGR flow insufficient detected & P0403 EGR control circuit. I'm not too sure where to go from here, the car came with a 6 month autoguard warranty, which covers most things, EGR valves included. Wondering whether I should give them a call

Yeah, either claim on the warranty or get in touch with the dealer that sold it and have them sort it.

The EGR valve is a pain to change on the CR140 engines as it's on the back of the engine and has to be accessed from below.

I would guess from the low mileage that its probably been used mainly for short journeys, the EGR and DPF issues would link to that as well...

I would call the garage and discuss it with them they may point you to the warranty company or they may just fix it themselves.

I'm heading out soon for a decent run, so I'll assess things once I'm back. As mentioned above, I think the car has done short frequent runs, and this is somehow linked to the dpf

Isn't that the EGR cooler??

If thats blocked up it's definitely a warranty job as it's a complete PITA.

Yeah, on the CR140 used in the Leon the EGR valve is attached to the end of the cooler.

In fact, it may be that the valve and the cooler are only available together as a single part for that particular engine.
