I have seen that some people are using a 3 button remote on their mk4's, this is ideally what I want to get as it will be such an advantage to have the boot open button!

I'm sure someone can give me an exact answer as to whether the 3 button remote will work.

I know your part numbers say no but there is a vid on YouTube that that shows the owner use a 3 button key.

i copy & pasted all the part number info from 3D Groups website which is my main key supplier.

I've just watched the youtube vid & it clearly shows him programming a 3 button remote with part number 1J0 959 753 DA to his mk4 Ibiza so i'd say there's your answer ;)

Key arrived today, took it to a local lock smith and timpsons and they both refused to do it!

Great! I think I need to try some more! Anyone else had this problem?

I had the same problem. They told me the key blade was of inferior quality and they were afraid it could snap in the ignition.

I did eventually find somewhere who would cut it, although the bloke who did it didn't charge me as he didn't want to guarantee his work. Over 12 months on the key is still going strong. Touch wood.

I think I'd just keep trying other locksmiths.

I got mine cut by a seller on eBay. I sent him my SKC and he used specialist machinery to cut it precisely to OEM standards. Worked perfectly.

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/telecommann/ I tried to find the listing, and there are similar ones but not exactly the right one. Send him a message and I'm sure he'll be do it for you. Plus, get it sent to a friend's house if you want the security of him not knowing where your car lives.

Blanco, that is exactly what they said to me!

It looks like I have found a place now though so happy days!

He wants £10 to cut it which I think is fair!

How do I get the transponder out of my normal (non remote) key?

That looks like a very good deal, I shall shortly be converting mine soon as I prefer the flip key entry.

Oh and I tried telecommann Chris and he no longer cuts customer supplied keys, as one once broke one of the blades on his machine.

well the remote is all finished!

Getting the transponder out wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be, just a few select cuts and it came out nicely.

I just need to get a seat logo now instead of a VW one haha! Is there anywhere I can get one apart from ebay?

Cheers!

I bought my one from Seat dealers themselves my part number is 1MO 837 891 A JGT It's the silver S on a black background, but if you speak to them you can get other colours... not sure what else is available though.

Yes i'm going to contact them shortly after payday as I need more funds first. I may get them to cut a Transporter key that I need for my work, that'll save a lot of £ rather than going through the dealers. Anyone know what the flip key part number for a T5 Transporter is by any chance?

A lot refuse to cut customer supplied blades & i can't say as i blame them. I've tried the cheap Ebay VAG key blades myself & they wear down cutters very quickly. I've also had them snap a cutter which costs me £20 to replace.

Now i buy packs of VAG blades from my main key supplier so if a customer contacts me that is supplying their own flip remote I can just fit my key blade if there's is poor quality metal.

Oh & i don't charge any extra for supplying them with a blank blade
