Fog light / reverse light wiring loom

I have an intermittent fault displayed on the dash telling me that the reverse lights / rear fog lots have a fault but only when the boot is open. My assumption is that one or more of the wires in the wiring loom has broken where it flexes as goes from the main car body into the boot lid. Is this an easy one to fix? I am keen to fix it quite promptly as my assumption is that the boot lock power cable also goes through this same conduit and could fail at any time (knowing my luck, probably when I'm on holiday with a boot full of suitcases!). Any thoughts or any similar experiences?

had a similar experience with the numberplate lights.
i ended up putting a new (bespoke) cable between the lights and the nearest connector plug (in the ST it is in the nearside Qtr panel)
the numberplate lights share a loom with the reversing sensors, so i wasn't going to replace that to get the lights working.
