I've searched and can't find a definitive solution to a problem I've got with the fuel gauge on our FR 130 TDI.
It's a four clock dash, not the traditionally problematic six clock of the earlier Mk4s.
Essentially, the light will come on with 80 miles showing as the range, and that drops to zero in about 5 miles. I know it used to come on at 35 miles (so my wife says). Then it'll pick up again, give 145 miles range and go mad until it's filled up again or it's parked up overnight. More than anything, the panic it induces on the motorway and the constant beeping is getting tiresome.
The new one this morning was that I got in it and it already showed empty with zero range. I know I have 200 miles in it and successfully did the 50 miles to work.
For those with the FR rather than the Sport TDIs who may have had a similar situation, has the general repair been the sender or the instrument cluster?
