Front ARB Linkage

Noticed a few noises coming from under meh car the past week or so, so got the underside checked out. Mechanic bent heat sheild back and stated that the front ARB linkage is failing but should be good for a while, with that and being in a rush I went on my way....

however, can some one explain if this is serious and how much to fix? I know I should have asked the mechanic this in the first place but it was on impulse as i drove past the garrage just before closing that I got them to check it out. Wished i had have asked now.

Any help appreciated.

mine manifested itself as a kind of exhaust rattle and always at low speed.
reach in and give it a twist, you shouldn't be able to turn it easily, and should feel tight.

Well I managed to get my hands dirty with the above, and now im at a complete loss. both arbs are solid, cant get them to shake or rattle, tried putting wheels on full lock in both directions still the arbs seem fine.

does the car need to be up in the air (ie no weaight on wheels for propper test?)

Any other ideas?

I think it would be best if you did get it in the air to have a good check' also check if any of the bushes are worn out.

These links are under pressure when the wheels are on the ground, the wheels need to be off the ground before these are free.
I changed mine thinking that this was the problem only to find out its not. I trhink mines is the bushes that attach to a cross member that are worn, these seem loke an easy fix so will do these soon and see if that fixes problem
