Fuel Cap Problems

Hi all, my missus just rang me - she can't open the fuel cap on the Altea, she's turned the key but swears it won't come off.. is there a knack to this? I did it the other week, seemed a bit fiddly and wasn't sure it had locked afterwards...but it's twice now she can't get it off.. any advice?

I still struggle with this, I normally take the key out then try and turn as can find myself locking the cap again.

you need to hold the fuel cap still whilst turning the key in the slot or the whole fuel cap will turn with the key.

These are the steps i gave the missus.

If the cap is spinning it is locked.

Hold the cap, turn key anti clockwise, take key out.

Turn cap anti clockwise

Remove cap

Job done.

Cheers mate. I figured it out last night (took me about 5 mins). I'll copy and paste your instructions and email them to the other half

I reckon so lads! I think it all started to get confusing when she was sure that if the cap is moving, it must be unlocked

Yeah that's what she thought, and tbh I did at first
