Wondering recently, is the 1.4TSI as thirsty as the 1.8T or am I just paranoid? I manage to get about 300 miles to a tank to 45 Litres and have about 3 litres remaining usually, I've seen people with 1.8T Ibizas complaining about getting 300 miles to a tank? So my question is, does my car have some kind of fault? All filters have been changed, including the whole air box has been swapped out for an induction kit but no better economy. Seems to use more fuel than most 2.0 cars and it's a tiny engine.. dont foot it all the time either..

what's your 'since refill' mpg? If you are doing only city travel, then, yes it's possible to be only getting 35-38mpg. If you are doing mixed, perhaps 38-43mpg, and maybe if just 40-70mph road, you should be able to get 43+ mpg. Else perhaps try a full 1 or 2 tanks of Shell Vpower 99 RON, and or Esso Supreme 97 RON for their cleaning properties, and then it might do better after. Assuming your 1.4TSI is the non ACT version? Eg..the 125PS one?

I've done my real MPG and were talking like 30 mpg.. calculated from what was left in the tank and the miles I did.. I have a 45 litre tank and am doing just about 300 maybe 310.. considering 45 litres is nearly 10 gallons I'd have thought I could get at least 350 to a tank? No pal it's the twincharger 1.4TSI, the TRIP always says I'm doing around 37-39 when commuting which is a mix of dual carriageway and country roads (I dont get any time to get my toe down though)
